"A Tea at the Palm Court Package"
from The Plaza Hotel, New York City

This teapot was a rare find at the hotel's closing sale last spring. (Even the teapots sold at the Christie's auction in March 2006 didn't have logos on them!) The Schonwald tea cup has the hotel logo on the front.

A mint condition silver teaspoon with the hotel's logo along with a Frette table runner are also included. The runner is tied with authentic Plaza Hotel logo ribbon. These are the same pink, checkerboard 100% Egyptian cotton table runners used at the hotel and sold at the Christie's auction. We can't forget the tin of Plaza Hotel English Breakfast Tea in a collectible tin! (It has the hotel name on the lid.) Plaza Hotel Swizzle Sticks

One dozen elegant swizzle sticks or stirrers tied with authentic Plaza ribbon.

The sticks are white with "The Plaza" written in script the famous double "P" logo both in gold.

These make great collectibles now that The Plaza NYC has closed!

The extra touch of the authentic blue and gold ribbon  (also with the hotel's logo and name embossed on it)  makes an especially elegant gift presentation.

Plaza Hotel Eloise Collectible Gift Sets

The Ultimate Eloise Gift Box Set -This limited edition set includes Eloise Doll, Eloise picture in a little frame, Plaza Hotel peppermint lotion, Young Plaza Ambassador's passport, doll-sized Eloise cup & saucer.

Here's the thing of it....the cup has Eloise's turtle Skipperdee on it and the saucer is monogrammed with an "E". (For Eloise. of course!!) We've also included one or two of Eloise's lucky buttons, with the gold-plating maybe a little worn from its service on the doorman's coat or maybe just from Eloise rubbing it in her pocket!

These are some of Eloise's favorite things from the hotel --all in three matching hat boxes!

The large hatbox has a gold seal on top with The Plaza signature and logo, and each gift set includes a complementary official Eloise of The Plaza gift card.

The doll is 18 inches tall and is sporting the traditional Eloise uniform of pleated black skirt, white socks and Mary Janes etc. This is a cloth doll. She curls up inside the large hatbox which is complete with a gold seal from The Plaza Hotel.

Plaza Mail Holder

This vintage mailbox (or message holder) is from a suite at The Plaza Hotel, New York. Years ago, these mailboxes were attached to the wall beside the entrance door to each of the suites. It has a prominent double P logo on it as well as beautiful art deco-style cut-out grill work on the front of it. (So you can see if there are any important invitations or better yet, love letters, left inside.)

Now for my special feature of modern day uses for vintage Plaza treasures. Small glass vases slipped inside turn it into a spectacular holder for cut flowers. It could hold all kinds of household items...pencils, pens, note pads, your Plaza toiletries...even remote controls! With a little creativity (and common sense) you can create a votive candle holder...and there is still the original use for holding notes, mail and maybe even the odd love letter...especially if it were given as an anniversary gift!

This mailbox is metal and 7.5 high, 5 inches wide and 2.125 inches wide. There are 3 holes on the back for attaching to a wall.

When The Plaza first opened, ninety percent of the rooms were reserved for permanent guests...most of whom were the who's who of New York Society at the time.

Think of the history this antique has seen!

Plaza Hotel Votive Candle Holder

A new votive candle holder from The Plaza Hotel, New York purchased at its recent huge closing sale.  The photos don't do it justice!  It is absolutely beautiful, depicting one of the Shinn Murals from the Oak Room and Bar on the inside of the glass using a reverse painting technique.

There were very few of these ornaments for sale, so the people that were lucky enough to get one were mostly buying them solely as personal keepsakes.  I was lucky enough to get a few and I'm definitely keeping one of these for my private Plaza collection. 

The candle holder comes in a beautiful red box lined with cream silk.  It has an ornamental closure. It would make a wonderful gift!  The Plaza Hotel has closed its doors and this candle holder is a wonderful and rare Plaza Hotel collectible.

Enclosed in the box is a descriptive folded card bearing The Plaza Hotel Logo on the front and back  One side of the card has information on the American painter Everett Shinn the painter of the famous mural s located in the Oak Bar.  On the other side is information on the painting technique used to create this masterpiece!

Grand Entrance Red Carpet

Now you can truly "roll out the red carpet"! This grand entrance red carpet was custom made for the 59th Street entrance to The Plaza Hotel.  It is brand new and still in it's hard fibreglass shipping shell.  The handtufted 100% nylon carpet is suitable for either indoor or outdoor use.  This carpet, made for the heavy foot traffic of one of New York's most famous entrances as well as exposure to New York's elements was made to last.  It would work for either home or commercial application.  Why not a "red carpet" wedding in your backyard?
 
The runner is unfinished at the ends to allow for it to be cut to size.  The label on the back states "Plaza Hotel - 59th St. Entrance.  It was made by Innovative Carpets of New Jersey.
 
The carpet contains five gloriously vibrant colors.  A true treasure and one-of-a-kind item!!

"Egg-Shaped" Plaza Doorknob Set with Keyhole

A rare set of old Plaza Hotel Brass Doorknobs.

The inside plate has a little turnknob. The outside plate has an old-fashioned key hole, (think skeleton key) .

Gorgeous, rare set of brass plates and knobs. The identical set (including the door) sold at Christie's auction house for over $17,000. The set is solid brass and quite heavy. Cartouche form and foliate cast doorplates.

They measure 7-1/2" long. One side has a knob to bolt the door. The knobs are highly detailed with the double "P" logo and measure 2-3/4" high and 2-3/4" in diameter.

A true keepsake.

Round Plaza Doorknob

Plaza Hotel Round Doorknob

A round brass doorknob cast with Plaza double P monogram in crest.  2.25 in (7 cm) diameter.  This knob is identical to those sold at Christie's auction house on March 15, 2006.  The knob is complete with matching rosette and rod.

These decorative doorknobs were placed in the center of the doors.  Every morning a bag holding the morning newspaper was hung on the knob for the convenience of the guest.  I think these knobs would be wonderful on a wall to hang a coat or purse. 

The knobs can, however, be used as a regular working doorknob with no modification.
